New sport allows girls to thrive on gridiron, try hand at something different: Wednesday, November 28, 2012; high school sports: Flag football makes its debut as a district sport to give girls another winter option; By Ray Brewer; When a player from the Cimarron-Memorial High School football team jumped offsides Monday during the first half of a game against visiting Arbor View, the referee reached for his flag but decided not to throw it for the obvious penalty. It was the first week of games, and for most of the players, it was their first time playing the sport — a fact referees considered with their restrained penalty calling.

Cimarron-Memorial's Justin Davis, thriving in new position, rushes Spartans to win against Del Sol: Saturday, September 8, 2012; high school football: The 5-foot-5 converted running back had more than 200 yards and two touchdowns to lead Cimarron to road win; By Ray Brewer; Justin Davis was primarily a wide receiver for the Cimarron-Memorial High football team before coaches switched him to running back this summer. It looks like he’s fitting in just fine in the Spartans’ backfield. Davis rushed for 263 yards and two first-half touchdowns Friday night to lead the Spartans to an impressive 27-7 victory against host Del Sol.

Cheyenne wins rivalry game with Cimarron-Memorial: Saturday, September 1, 2012; high school football:; By Ray Brewer; The Duel in the Desert high school football trophy is staying at Cheyenne. Cheyenne’s Myloe Lewis had a rushing and receiving touchdown Friday, leading the Desert Shields to a 26-19 victory against host Cimarron-Memorial in the annual rivalry game. The two schools opened together in 1991 and have played every year for the trophy.

Arbor View, fresh off a victory against Cimarron, ready for challenge of Gorman: Saturday, October 15, 2011; high school football:; By Ray Brewer; Henry Hoffend accounted for three touchdowns Friday for the Arbor View High football team in a 32-20 victory against host Cimarron-Memorial. The win gives the Aggies (7-1 overall, 6-1 Northwest) the No. 2 seed from the Northwest Division in the playoffs, which begin in three weeks.

Centennial wins third straight by beating Cimarron-Memorial: Thursday, October 6, 2011; high school football:; By Case Keefer; Centennial won a key Northwest Division battle against Cimarron-Memorial Thursday night. The Bulldogs held on in the fourth quarter for a 23-21 victory over the Spartans. Cimarron scored a few times late to make it a close contest, but a 20-yard touchdown pass from Austin Turley to Trajan Pili provided enough insurance for Centennial.
