The win gives the Aggies (7-1 overall, 6-1 Northwest) the No. 2 seed from the Northwest Division in the playoffs, which begin in three weeks.

The Bulldogs held on in the fourth quarter for a 23-21 victory over the Spartans. The Longhorns Steffan Webb broke loose for an 86-yard run early in the game, but the Spartans Marques Price refused to give up on the play. He caught up to Webb at the one-yard line and stripped the ball away for a turnover.

That anything was a shocking upset by Bonanza, rallying late to beat Silverado 30-29 and knock the respected Southeast Division team out of the top 10. Bonanza wasn’t expected by many to win the game — well, except by the players themselves.

Parcells did his student teaching at Cimarron in 2002 and has been part of the Spartans’ coaching staff the last five years, most recently as defensive coordinator. He was promoted in late April to replace Rod Vollan, who retired.
