high school football: If the Gaels beat Reed in Saturday's state title game, they'd become first large-school team since Reno HS from 1924-28 to win five in a row
When Gorman takes on Reed High of Northern Nevada at 1:07 p.m. Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium for the Division-I state championship, it will be playing to become the first large-school classification team in more than 80 years to win five straight titles. high school football: The four-time defending state champion Gaels are playing Saturday against Reed from Reno area for state championship
After one of the first plays of the Bishop Gorman High football season, it didn’t appear defense — specifically, run defense — would become one of the strengths this fall for the Nevada power. Yet, when the Gaels take the field at 1:07 p.m. Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium in the Division I state championship game against Reed High of Northern Nevada, it will be playing for a fifth straight championship largely because the defense has been downright dominant.

Gorman rushes past Palo Verde for Sunset title, spot in state championship game
Saturday, November 30, 2013
high school football:
It took less than 90 seconds today in the Sunset Regional high school football championship game for Bishop Gorman High to make a statement against visiting Palo Verde. The four-time defending state champion Gaels showed they were going to be able to run the ball at will, using a 5-yard touchdown run from Russell Booze to cap a five-play, 73-yard drive to give Gorman the lead for good. And there was still 10:34 left in the first quarter. The Gaels had rushes of more than 19 yards from three different ballcarriers on the drive, setting the table for a dominating ...

high school football:
Gone are the days when the Liberty High football team’s success and failure is dictated by the performances of their all-state quarterback and running back. While Kai Nacua and Niko Kapeli were two of the best players in Liberty history, they couldn’t do it alone in the final few games of the season. These Liberty Patriots don’t have that problem.

high school football:
The high school football players in this Las Vegas area Thanksgiving weekend tradition know they are fortunate. They realize the obvious: They could be like the players at other schools whose season is already over, watching from the stands with envy because they’ve long turned in their gear. Instead, they’ll suit up Saturday in the one game some wait their entire careers to be part of. Host Bishop Gorman and Palo Verde meet at 1 p.m. Saturday in the state semifinals, renewing a rivalry many consider the state’s most fierce.
