RENO — The Bishop Gorman High basketball team is in a familiar spot today, playing Canyon Springs for its fifth state championship in the past six seasons, attempting to win the 17th state championship in program history.

Bishop Gorman High basketball coaches constantly reminded players this week not to underestimate Reno High in Thursday’s state semifinals. Turns out Gorman had nothing to worry about, posting an easy 68-27 victory. Things were so comfortable, in fact, that Gorman outscored Reno 25-4 in the second quarter and yanked their starters by halftime. They'll be well-rested as they take on Canyon Springs in Friday’s state championship game.
