Marko Petrovic of Findlay Prep runs drills during practice Tuesday at the Henderson International School.
Nephews of hoops greats follow in famous footsteps at Findlay
Sept. 9, 2009
The two nephews of the late basketball stars at times feel the weight of the last names on the back of their jerseys. However, Marko Petrovic and Nick Johnson, two of the newest Findlay College Prep players, counter those emotions with immense pride in their surnames. “I’m very proud of that name,” said Petrovic, nephew of the late Drazen Petrovic. “That name left some footsteps in basketball, in Europe and in America. I want to continue that.”

Future Findlay players, Gorman star shine in lopsided win
July 23, 2009
Basketball is not supposed to be this easy. The Dream Vision 15s raced past, jumped over and outclassed 43 Hoops Academy on Thursday during the adidas Super 64 tournament at Cimarron-Memorial High for an 88-45 victory. Despite having five on its eight-player roster who haven't attended one day of high school, the blowout featured a handful of highlight-reel dunks and several other impressive plays not typical for the average ninth grader.

Tristan Thompson, a junior power forward who transferred to Findlay Prep from St. Benedict's in New Jersey in February, holds a piece of the net that he had just cut after helping the Pilots beat Oak Hill, 74-66, in the championship game of the ESPN RISE National High School Invitational. Emotional win a crowning moment for young program
April 7, 2009
SOMEWHERE OVER KANSAS – Brushing his teeth Sunday morning in his hotel room in Rockville, Md., Mike Peck first thought of his parents who were killed in a car accident in Michigan in 1992. The coach of the Findlay College Prep basketball team is not sentimental or emotional. He does not do drama, and he doesn’t want players who engage in petty bickering or gossip, or get easily sidetracked. That clouds judgment, focusing on goals and being successful.

Findlay Prep senior Carlos Lopez looks for the ball during a recent practice before the school embarks on a prep national championship run.
After run at prep crown, Lopez to ink UNLV deal -- literally
March 30, 2009
The pain was almost unbearable, a great challenge. Another hurdle. Carlos “Yao” Lopez winced. He almost cried. It had nothing to do with being benched by Findlay College Prep basketball coach Mike Peck this season. It had everything to do with sitting in that seat at Living Dead Tattoo on Rainbow. When Findlay returns from the ESPN RISE National High School Invitational in Maryland after this weekend, he will have U-N-L-V inked behind the ball.

Findlay Prep star sets sights on national championship, beyond
March 26, 2009
Avery Bradley watched Texas lose to Duke in the second round of the NCAA tournament over the weekend and knew exactly what the Longhorns lacked. A lethal outside shooter. A dangerous perimeter player who could open up the inside. Someone like, well, Bradley.
