Tim Tebow may still have a future in the NFL after all. The New England Patriots seem to think so and plan to sign him on Tuesday if he passes a physical.

Former NFL star Chad Johnson was sentenced Monday to 30 days in jail for a probation violation in a domestic violence case by a judge who angrily rejected a no-jail plea deal after Johnson playfully slapped his attorney on the backside in court.

The Las Vegas 51s were limited to six hits Saturday in an 11-0 loss at Tacoma. Tacoma scored eight runs in the initial three innings, winning for the second time in three nights against the 51s in the four-game Pacific Coast League series.

Wilmer Flores and Brandon Hicks each had two-run home runs Friday for the Las Vegas 51s in a 12-5 victory against host Tacoma. Hicks, the 51s’ No. 9 hitter, finished with four RBIs, while Flores went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored.

The Las Vegas 51s had their seven game winning streak halted Thursday, falling 9-1 at Tacoma in the first game of a Pacific Coast League series.
The University of San Diego's Kris Bryant, a Bonanza High School product, is considered one of the top prospects in the upcoming MLB draft. Bryant hit 31 home runs for USD this season and was named the Louisville Slugger Player of the Year.

Golden Nugget makes UNLV football double-digit underdog against Minnesota, Arizona

The UNLV football team will be a betting underdog in its initial two games of the season. The Golden Nugget at 1 p.m. Friday will open betting on 240 college football games for the fall, including three contests involving the hometown Rebels. The downtown property is the first local establishment to release college football odds for 2013.

Tuesday evening brought the first such instance for the 2013 World Series of Poker at the Rio. Benny Chen, a 31-year-old restaurant manager from Prince Edward Island, Canada, won the largest non-WSOP Main Event tournament in poker history.

The new owners of the Las Vegas 51s plan to build a new stadium for the Triple-A baseball team in Summerlin, abandoning their downtown location. It’s being labeled as a family-friendly facility complete with the player and fan amenities lacking at Cashman Field. Still, there have been some vocal opponents of the move.
