Station Casinos has opened a new 400-seat bingo hall at Green Valley Ranch Resort. Action begins at 9 a.m. and runs on the odd hours until 11 p.m., offering eight sessions a day. Of the 400 seats, 312 are dedicated to nonsmokers and 88 are located in a smoking section separated by glass. Hall games include Super Jumbo Bingo Progressive, which can dole out six-figure jackpots. Every session features cash balls, giving players the chance to wins thousands of dollars if their number is called.

It’s 6 p.m. Saturday at one of the busiest restaurants on the Strip. The University of Oregon’s football team could have two from the Las Vegas area playing on its offensive line in the upcoming years. Green Valley High's Tyrell Crosby, a 6-foot-4, 295-pound offensive tackle, verbally committed to Oregon Monday following an unofficial visit. Crosby confirmed the commitment on his Twitter account.

Station Casinos is updating its video poker offerings with new machines that let players customize backgrounds and the way cards are dealt. But at the same time, the casino company is removing many of its highest-paying video poker games. For years, Station has been known for having some of the best video poker payouts in Las Vegas. But over the past few months, several full-pay machines — those with payouts of 100 percent or more — have disappeared.

Las Vegas Valley moviegoers will get a dash of luxury — and alcohol — next month when a new high-end movie theater opens in Henderson. The eight-screen Galaxy Green Valley Luxury+ Theatre is scheduled to open March 8 in Green Valley Town Center on East Sunset Road. The multiplex will serve wine and draft beer, and all of its seats will be reclining with powered footrests. “It's a different experience,” said Rafe Cohen, Galaxy Theatres co-owner and president.

It’s 10 minutes before Tyrell Crosby’s sixth-period weight training class at Green Valley High School and college football coaches are already starting to gather for a glimpse of the 6-foot-6, 295-pound offensive tackle. Recruiting website rivals.com classifies him as one of the hottest prospects in the region for the class of 2014, and the interest from coaches more than supports the claim. He’s already received scholarship offers from Oregon, Utah, San Diego State and UNLV, and more offers surely will follow.

Henderson residents gathered Tuesday night to protest the construction of a roadway through the District at Green Valley Ranch, only to find the matter had been approved weeks ago. Instead, the issue in question was whether to approve a request to install angled versus parallel parking on the new roadway.

When Green Valley High wrestling coach Jon Ferry received a phone call from the tournament director of the Clash in Minnesota, he didn’t have to think twice when the conversation ended with an invitation for his team to participate the prestigious dual tournament. It’s an invitation-only event, meaning the tournament director liked something he saw in the defending state champion Gators.

The Foothill High basketball team’s pressure defense was too much for host Green Valley to handle for parts of the second half Wednesday. The Falcons turned a one-point lead early in the third quarter into a 20-point advantage midway through the fourth primarily because their full-court pressure frequently forced turnovers that lead to easy baskets in a 68-51 victory.
