Boyd Gaming says $7.3 million loss related to acquisition of new casinos

Above Marvin Lipschultz’s desk hangs a reminder of what the 3.5 acres of land below him could have been. It’s an artist’s rendering of an aqua blue 41-story hotel called One Trop. Lipschultz looks at it daily from his small guest room office at the long-shuttered Golden Palm Hotel. Now, after a half-decade of waiting for a second chance to strike, the grizzled real estate mogul is ready to try again, albeit on a much smaller scale. Lipschultz plans to reopen the Golden Palm as a restaurant and karaoke bar.
New company helps position Caesars to make strategic investments

Caesars Entertainment Corp. has created a new company to free up cash for new projects, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Cheyenne High graduate Quinton Carter talks to youth football players during his free camp last May. Through his non-profit, Carter hosts camps and does other projects for low-income families in Las Vegas and Oklahoma, where he played college football. He was a fourth-round draft pick in April of the Denver Broncos.

Gaming Commission to impose $10,000 fine on North Las Vegas casino

The state Gaming Commission Thursday agreed to impose a $10,000 fine on the Lucky Club Casino and Hotel in North Las Vegas for permitting an unregistered employee to be involved in gaming activities.

Las Vegas is trying to beat its reputation as a shut-in. MGM Resorts International announced Thursday that it will sink $100 million into building a park and public promenade outside of its New York-New York and Monte Carlo casinos.

Second downtown hotel in as many days stops taking reservations

If you want a room at the Las Vegas Club next month, you’re out of luck. The downtown haunt is closing its more than 400 guest rooms. “Guest rooms at the property were only available for reservations on the weekends,” said Jonathan Jossel, director of Las Vegas properties for Tamares Real Estate, owner of the Las Vegas Club. “However, at this time, we will no longer be accepting any reservations for guest rooms.”

NLV casino agrees to fine over Control Board complaint
