More leg room! Built-in TV monitors! Champagne service! The creative minds charged with inventing a new, improved, profitable version of the aquatic spectacle “Le Rêve” at the Wynn Las Vegas seem to have taken cues from consumer-savvy airlines Virgin America and Jet Blue. Lucky and/or loaded audience members who can shell out $179 get plushy seats in the recently installed VIP section ringing the orchestra level. They can watch closed-circuit video monitors and observe the performers after their plummeting dives, breathing through scuba tubes during extended underwater sequences. And there’s champagne service (Perrier-Jouet and chocolate-dipped, Las Vegas-scale strawberries, discreetly refreshed ...

The “Le Rêve” Aqua Theater at the Wynn Las Vegas has the unique ability to create different weather elements during the show. “Rain” falls from 80 feet from the high grid and more than 2,000 ounces of soap shavigs are used each week to create the snow effect. The snow consists of a non-harmful substance that melts in the water and has no damaging effects to the performers.

Wynn explained to me last week his reasons for buying "Le Reve" creator Franco Dragone's interest in the show named for his (and wife Elaine's) Picasso painting of the same name, the moniker Wynn had originally slated for Wynn Las Vegas.
