Buddy Valastro surprised La Cucina Italian Food and Wine Festival fans when he wheeled out a cake replica of the Venetian. Then when I talked with him about it, he surprised one more time. “I’m going to make the world’s largest wedding cake next,” he told me.

Everything went as planned: Fire Department trucks and ambulances on hand for any emergency weren’t needed, and motorcycle police outriders kept thousands of fans safe on the sidewalks. The fans were packed solid on bridges and restaurant patios up and down the Victory Lap.

Vegas DeLuxe previously reported that “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” producers toured the former “Phantom — the Las Vegas Spectacular” theater in the Venetian to see if the stage there could accommodate the high-tech sets and aerial acrobatics.
