Letter to the editor:

Heller stands against women

Every woman in Nevada should know that Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., is going to vote ‘yes’ for Brett Kavanaugh to sit on the Supreme Court for a lifetime. Heller is effectively saying our experiences of sexual assault and harassment don’t matter.

Like 1 in 5 women, I am a survivor of sexual assault. I grew up knowing boys just like Kavanaugh — white, privileged, entitled, and believed to be untouchable. In high school, I was assaulted by one. Heller doesn’t care. If he cared, he would believe and protect survivors like Christine Blasey Ford. He praised her for her bravery but is still going to vote for her attacker to have a seat on the highest court in this country.

Also, the Violence Against Women Act was set to expire at the end of September, and Heller has not said a word about it. Ladies, we deserve better.
