LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Depressing time for the president

Everyone is scratching their head trying to figure out what happened over Veterans Day weekend. The president skips a cemetery event, gives a lackluster 10-minute speech, then crawls back into his foxhole while other allied heads of state march in support of the men and women who gave their lives for freedom and country.

Then, returning to Washington, it appears neither the president nor vice president could drag themselves out of bed to make an appearance to honor the brave men laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.

To me, the answer is simple. The ramifications of the midterm elections have set in. The free ride is over. Donald Trump’s life is about to become a living hell. His tax returns will show him to be a callous, money-grubbing manipulator. His son Donald Jr. and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, will face financial and criminal scrutiny. It will start raining indictments on his personal lawyer and campaign cohorts, calling into question his role in the WikiLeaks emails and Russian meddling in our election.

For Republicans, who allowed this man to hijack their party, it could be equally devastating. Democrats winning the mid-terms by an 8-9 points nationally could portend further GOP loses in 2020.
