Liberty For All

Las Vegas Sun sports editors Ray Brewer and Case Keefer discuss Liberty's momentous win over the top-ranked team in Texas, and give an ode to all the other great games high school football has produced so far.

The Sierra Vista defense continued to produce with a suffocating efficiency Friday night at Rancho.

It may sound like the Mountain Lions’ offense starred in a 42-8 victory over the Rams, but it was the defense that set the tone.

“I don’t think they got a first down in the first half,” Sierra Vista coach John Foss said.

Sierra Vista led 42-0 at halftime, and cruised the rest of the way. A number of players contributed on offense, highlighted by sophomore running back Bryan LaGrange, who rushed in two early touchdowns.

Junior running back Jaxson Zibert joined LaGrange in the double score club with his own pair of touchdown runs. Senior running back Lopaka Kolone and senior tight end Chevy Eliu accounted for the other two touchdowns.

The Mountain Lions improved to 2-0 with the victory, while the Rams fell to 0-2.
