Top Gorman player Lindsey announces he’s transferring

Bishop Gorman vs. Chandler 2

Steve Marcus

Bishop Gorman High School’s Tyjon Lindsey (25) carries the ball on a kickoff return during a game against Chandler (Ariz.) High School at Bishop Gorman Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015. Bishop Gorman beat Chandler 35-14.

Football standout Tyjon Lindsey is leaving Bishop Gorman High for his native California, he announced today on Twitter.

The rising senior had 45 catches for 1,117 yards and 14 touchdowns last fall in helping Gorman win its second straight mythical national championship.

Lindsey wrote the move has nothing to do with the program at Gorman.

He had lived the past four years with quarterback Tate Martell, whose family he calls his “god family.” He’ll move back to California with immediate family members, he wrote.

Lindsey is a top recruit for the class of 2017, holding scholarship offers from the likes of Ohio State, USC and Texas A&M.
