Silverado responded resiliently to its first loss of the season — just as coach Randall Cunningham stressed.

“I told the guys this was a character-building game,” Cunningham said. “We went with an attack philosophy.”

The Skyhawks’ defense especially adopted the attitude in shutting out the Eldorado Sundevils, 36-0. Pekelo Solomon set the defensive tone with Silverado’s first points coming on a long interception return for a touchdown.

Special teams got into the spirit next as Devion Clayton returned a punt for a touchdown. On offense, Keiki Misipeka paced the Skyhawks.

He scored three touchdowns to supplement the stout defensive showing.

“Our defense went to work tonight,” Cunningham said. “We’re still not jelling offensively yet. We’re still missing players, but we got two back tonight and we’ll get to full strength.”
