Man critically injured in hit-and-run on Strip

Updated Monday, March 30, 2015 | 12:04 p.m.

Authorities say a Colorado man was critically injured in a hit-and-run on the Las Vegas Strip.

Metro Police said the pedestrian from Grand Junction, Colo. was hospitalized early Monday.

A passerby called police about 3 a.m. after the man was hit by a vehicle going north that did not stop in the 2600 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard.

The vehicle may be red and have damage to the left side or left front end.

Police said it was a pedestrian error that caused the crash, as the man was walking from the east to the west side but was not in a crosswalk.

The road was shut down on the block between the Circus Circus and SLS Las Vegas casino-hotels until about 8 a.m.
