Pahrump deputy is arrested, accused of pointing gun at his wife

A Nye County deputy who works at a detention center was arrested Saturday after pushing his wife and pointing a gun at her, according to the Nye County Sheriff's Office.

Andrew Denning of Pahrump has been with the detention center since December. He faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, child endangerment and domestic battery, police said.

The investigation revealed that Denning and his wife were having an argument. The dispute escalated and Denning pushed his wife with his shoulder. She then tried to leave with their child when Denning pointed a gun at his wife to get her to move.

Denning was placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
