The price tag on a Spanish Trail home may scare most away with its seven-figure asking price, but what's really up for sale is “design genius, privacy and the perfect home for entertaining,” according to its owner.

Located on an acre lot at 26 Vintage Court, the 12-bedroom, 10-bathroom home is on the market for $7.95 million. It was designed by owners Laura and Jack Sommer, whose family made their fortune in real estate.

Originally built in 1993, the Sommers have stuck to a classic architectural theme to keep the home timeless.

Marble from all over the world graces the home's countertops, along with meticulously matched marble wall designs, some of which Laura Sommer cut and placed herself.

As early supporters of Bill Clinton, the Sommers designed the home with entertaining in mind. A guesthouse with a full kitchen is strategically placed in the corner of the backyard to keep the area open.

Although the mansion is around 20,000 square feet, the ceiling level varies throughout the home and the floor-to-ceiling windows create a homey feeling. And with access to the grounds or a balcony from every room, Laura’s carefully landscaped gardens are visible from almost every room in the home.

“There’s a difference between a big house and a mansion,” Jack Sommer said. “And this, this is a mansion.”

Known as one of the safest gated neighborhoods in the valley, the Spanish Trail community has its own country club, an exercise facility and tennis courts.
