One woman is dead after her car crashed into a pole in the northeast part of the valley this morning.
The incident occurred around 7:20 a.m., when a white 2008 Dodge Caliber traveling west on Owens Avenue hit a wooden utility pole on the northeast corner of the intersection with Pecos Road, Lt. George Warner said.
The driver of the sedan was taken to UMC with life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead there, Warner said.
This is the 22nd traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
Westbound Owens was closed for several hours as Metro's Fatal Detail investigated the scene, Warner said.
The incident remains under investigation.
