Police: Man suspected of running marijuana delivery service

A man arrested after a drug bust last week in North Las Vegas is suspected of running a marijuana delivery service, according to an arrest report released today.

Jorge Garcia, 25, was taken into custody after the Southern Nevada Cannibis Operation and Regional Enforcement task force served a search warrant Thursday at a home in the 2000 block of San Miguel Avenue, near Clayton Street and West Craig Road, Metro Police said.

Detectives also served a warrant in an industrial area in the 3800 block of East Craig Road, near North Pecos Road, police said.

Detectives found 23 guns, more than 24 pounds of ready-for-sale marijuana and 45 grams of methamphetamine, police said.

They also found $15,811 in cash, five marijuana plants, THC extract and 7.9 pounds of marijuana edibles, including chocolates and marshmallow squares, police said.

In a home office, they located business cards for a marijuana delivery service and plastic bags and jars of marijuana, according to an arrest report.

Police told Garcia it appeared he was operating a marijuana delivery service, but he denied the accusation, according to the report.

He told police he had been growing marijuana for about two months but denied selling it, telling officers he gives it to medical patients but doesn’t accept compensation, the report said.

Garcia, who was in custody at the Henderson Detention Center on a count of possession of stolen property, was taken to the Clark County Detention Center on five counts, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and trafficking of methamphetamine, police said.

He posted bond over the weekend and was released, according to the Clark County District Attorney’s Office.

He has a Nevada medical marijuana card that allows him to have 12 plants and up to 2.5 ounces of usable marijuana, the arrest report said.

Garcia reported smoking marijuana daily to help deal with back and neck injuries he suffered in a car accident, police said.

Metro Police, the Henderson Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration all contribute to the SCORE task force.
