Driver sought in hit-and-run that kills pedestrian near Mandalay Bay

Metro Police are searching for a driver who was involved in a Saturday morning hit-and-run accident that killed a man crossing the street.

Police received a call at 2:57 a.m. that a pedestrian had been hit at Las Vegas Boulevard and Four Seasons Drive, Lt. Terry Bernard said.

The pedestrian, a 34-year-old man, was crossing the street from east to west in a marked crosswalk south of the intersection near Mandalay Bay when he was struck by a southbound white sedan, police said. The driver fled the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

The accident remains under investigation.

This is the eighth traffic fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
