Workers to begin resurfacing U.S. 95 near Indian Springs

A $22 million resurfacing project on U.S. 95 from Indian Springs to Mercury will begin next week.

Work will start Monday along a 17-mile stretch of the four-lane freeway with a median divider, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation. The project will begin in northwest Clark County and conclude at the southeast edge of Nye County.

Las Vegas Paving is the general contractor of the project that entails milling and asphalt overlay.

Construction will also flatten the roadside shoulder for safer turnout areas, make drainage improvements, and install 36 miles of protective tortoise fencing. The project is expected to be completed in October.

“The project will place 200,000 tons of asphalt upon completion, which is enough material to fill up 1,800 swimming pools or pave 18,000 average-sized driveways,” NDOT spokesman Tony Illia said.

A minimum of one lane of traffic will be kept open in each direction. Motorists should expect delays.
