Woman, 56, hit by car, critically injured crossing street

A 56-year-old woman was hit by a car and critically injured Thursday night while crossing Charleston Boulevard, Metro Police said.

The accident, which remains under investigation, was reported shortly after 9 p.m. as the pedestrian, Clara Saltenis of Las Vegas, crossed the street west of Maryland Parkway, police said.

Saltenis was not in a crosswalk when she was hit by a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria headed east on Charleston, police said. She was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition, police said.
