Wreckage believed to be small plane headed to Henderson

Updated Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015 | 5:30 p.m.

BAKER, Calif. — Authorities have tentatively confirmed that wreckage spotted in the Mojave Desert mountains is from a small airplane with a husband and wife aboard that disappeared during a flight from Southern California to Nevada.

Maj. Marc Sobel of the Civil Air Patrol says he's confident his team on Wednesday has located the site in the Clark Mountain Range of the single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza that disappeared from radar Tuesday night.

The Civil Air Patrol says a pilot and his wife were aboard the plane that left from California City for Henderson.

Three air crews and three ground search teams were involved in the search. The wreckage was spotted at first light north of Interstate 15 about halfway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
