Body in wash that of missing man with Alzheimer’s

A body found Wednesday morning in a northeast valley wash has been identified as that of a missing North Las Vegas man who had Alzheimer’s disease, authorities said.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the man today as 73-year-old Hollis Thompson, who had been missing since Jan. 7.

Thompson had reportedly left his home to go to the store and never returned, according to North Las Vegas Police. His body was found about seven miles northeast of his house.

Metro Police received a report just before noon Wednesday of a man down in a wash behind a business at East Lone Mountain Road and Copper Sage Street, near North Lamb Boulevard, Officer Laura Meltzer said.

A caller reported the man didn’t appear to be breathing, she said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details about the death were available this morning.
