letter to the editor:

Support the Keystone pipeline

Regarding the letter to the editor “Obama should veto Keystone pipeline” (Las Vegas Sun, Feb. 18):

I agree with the letter writer that at present we have an oil glut. Two years ago we were paying $4 a gallon for gasoline because we had no choice due to the severe restrictions from OPEC oil producers. Now we have an opportunity to assist one of our staunchest allies (Canada) by sending oil through our country.

We have very few allies left in this world due to some of the decisions made by our president. We don’t need the oil right now, but what about the future? Shall we lose another ally because we didn’t help them out and find ourselves even more alone in this world, or shall we do the right thing and convince the president to OK the pipeline and then let us begin to work on some of the other problems affecting the U.S. today? Please rethink your position and support this pipeline instead of opposing it.

Thank you.
