The Rebels’ 2019 football season is going to start with an historic trip, the program announced today. UNLV will play USC at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Aug. 31, 2019, just the second time the teams have met on the gridiron.
UNLV will get paid $1.15 million for the game, one of the largest guarantee games the team has ever played. The others include $1 million to play at Michigan this season and $1.3 million for a trip to Ohio State in 2017.
“Adding a storied program such as USC to our schedule fits perfectly into our philosophy of signing one guarantee game every couple of seasons," UNLV Athletics Director Tina Kunzer-Murphy said in a statement. "It will be an easy and memorable trip for our fans as well as allowing us to appear in a city that is an important recruiting area for us.”
The only other meeting occurred in 1997, when USC won 35-21 at the Coliseum.
Here’s a look at all of UNLV’s currently scheduled nonconference opponents, except for a home game against BYU, which was slated for this season before being rescheduled to either 2016 or 2017:
