App would help those suffering from brain illness

A Las Vegas software development firm has teamed up with the Cleveland Clinic’s Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health to create an app to help those suffering from a brain illness.

Raster, a company that describes itself as a “strategic mobile innovation firm,” is designing an app, with input from the Lou Ruvo Center, that will help people manage brain health.

Using information about a person’s brain health, the app will monitor the user’s activities and provide nutrition, fitness and social tips. Users also will be able to connect the app to wearable technology, such as Fitbit.

“We are very inspired by the groundbreaking research being conducted at the Lou Ruvo Center,” Michael Smith, founder and CEO of Raster, said in a statement. “They are focused on minimizing the risk factors of some pretty degenerative and crippling diseases. Being able to partner with them, have an impact on the human experience and help move these innovations to the next level is an incredible opportunity.”

Raster expects the app to be available by April.

The Lou Ruvo Center is dedicated to finding effective treatments for brain diseases, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, as well as providing care for patients affected by such diseases and their families.
