Las Vegas activist Astrid Silva will be in Miami this week to join President Barack Obama at a town hall-style meeting to rally support for his executive actions on immigration.
The event Wednesday at Florida International University aims to re-energize advocates who are reeling from a federal court decision that last week halted Obama's plan to grant deportation relief for 5 million undocumented immigrants.
Silva's visit coincides with Attorney General Adam Laxalt's appearance Wednesday morning before the House Judiciary Committee in Washington, D.C., where he will discuss the Nevada-backed lawsuit that led to the injunction.
The Miami event, hosted by television journalist José Díaz-Balart, will air live at 5 p.m. on Telemundo. Laxalt's appearance will air on the House Judiciary Committee's website at 7 a.m.
