A man police say was fatally shot at his southwest valley house Monday morning after arguing with an acquaintance has been identified as 32-year-old Miguel Angel Orozco.

Metro Police were called about 4:45 a.m. to the house in the 6400 block of Gunderson Boulevard, near South Torrey Pines Drive and West Harmon Avenue, and found Orozco suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Orozco was in his garage when Julio Rodriguez, 30, drove up in front of the house, police said. The victim approached the vehicle and the two got into a verbal altercation, police said.

Rodriguez displayed a handgun, and multiple shots were fired as Orozco ran from the vehicle, police said.

Rodriguez and another man on the passenger side of the vehicle fled the scene, police said.

The vehicle was a black 1999 Mercedes Benz SUV with large chrome rims and tinted windows, police said. It has unknown California license plates.

Anyone with information about Rodriguez’s whereabouts is urged to call Metro’s homicide section at 702-828-3521. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
