Pedestrian, 66, hit and killed by car east of Strip

A pedestrian was hit by a car and killed Tuesday night east of the Las Vegas Strip.

Metro Police officials said the man, 66, was crossing Swenson Street near Royal Crest Circle about 8:50 p.m. when he was hit by a southbound 1996 Honda Civic. He wasn’t in a crosswalk, police said.

The driver stopped and waited for police until the pedestrian was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. The motorist isn’t facing any charges, police said.

The wreck resulted in the 10th traffic fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
