Letter to the Editor:

Laxalt should not pursue lawsuit

I see new Attorney General Adam Laxalt is about to begin his term by wasting taxpayer resources and suing President Barack Obama over his executive orders on immigration. There are other states already engaged in suits that, unlike Nevada, do not have a majority of Democratic residents where such a frivolous activity is not likely to hurt politicians.

History provides numerous instances of executive actions such as this, giving Obama precedent. Whether we agree with the policy or not, wouldn’t it be prudent to wait and see the outcome of the other lawsuits before expending our resources? Laxalt would be wise to execute the duties of his office in a manner that benefits our state and avoid activities best suited for those “Third World” states within our country.
