Findlay Prep forward Justin Jackson brings the ball up the court at Bishop Gorman High during the 2013-14 season. Jackson, a top-30 player in the class of 2016, committed to UNLV.

The Rebels are still waiting for their first commitment in the class of 2015, but that hasn’t stopped them from working ahead in the class of 2016. Findlay Prep junior small forward Justin Jackson committed to UNLV on Monday afternoon, according to a source.

Jackson, who’s one of many recent Canadian imports to both the Pilots and Rebels, is listed at 6-foot-8 and 220 pounds. Last season he became only the third Pilot to average at least 10 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals per game, according to Findlay Prep coach Andy Johnson.

UNLV assistant coach Todd Simon recruited Jackson to Findlay Prep in the first place and carried that relationship over to the Rebels, who got a recruiting win after several losses in the class of 2015. Jackson is a consensus top-30 player in his class.

The Rebels aren’t done pursuing Findlay’s junior class, as point guard Derryck Thornton is one of their top targets.
