letter to the editor:

Bad decisions at lion ranch

In response to the Sept. 18 article, “Keith Evans, who ran MGM Grand Lion Habitat, working to keep his lion ranch alive,” I have seen articles in which Evans states he is having financial problems and struggles to feed all his lions, yet he continues to breed them and create more mouths to feed.

I realize he can make money from people coming and paying to feed or have pictures taken with these babies, but that only lasts a few months and then they can’t be handled by the public anymore.

In an article in October 2013 he said he had 52 lions, and this article claims 47.

Now he says he will get a giraffe Why would he if he is having trouble feeding the animals he already has.

He is not putting the animals first. It is only a matter of time before he will have to get rid of the lions he produced. I don’t think he is a bad person, just that he is making bad decisions.

He shouldn’t take any more animals, and there should be no more breeding.

After all, the breeding put himself and his animals in this situation.

It’s just a matter of time before more lions go out the “back door.” The writing on the wall is clear to see, and it’s not good for the animals.
