With cooler temperatures and changing scenery, October and November are the perfect months in Las Vegas to get outside.
And what better way to do that than register for one of the valley's many organized races?
Whether you're racing to win or just hoping to support a good cause, here are nine local runs that offer something for everyone:

Run Walk Roll Against Bullying
When: Saturday
Where: Findlay Chevrolet, 6800 S. Torrey Pines Drive
What: A 5K run or 1.5-mile walk for people of all ages; the run is meant to kick off National Bullying Awareness Month in Nevada.

Twilight Red Rock Half Marathon
When: Saturday
Where: Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center
What: Watch the sun set over the Calico Basin while running a rare, evening half marathon.
The event will also feature a 5K course, which will begin at 8:45 p.m. after the half marathon's 8 p.m. start time.
Registration for the half-marathon is $95; the 5K is $60. The group putting the run on, Calico Racing, also offers a round-trip shuttle from the Strip to the canyon for $30.
Runners should wear reflective clothing.

United Healthcare Ironkids Henderson Fun Run
When: Oct. 4
Where: Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Pkwy.
What: Ironboys and Irongirls can join in for this 1-mile fun run meant to promote healthy living and show kids the excitement of competition. Kids will run in waves separated by grade level, ages 3-15.

LVTC’s 5th annual Dwarfism Awareness Fun Run and Walk
When: Oct. 4
Where: Wayne Bunker Family Park, 7351 W. Alexander Road
What: Proceeds from this family-friendly 5K run and 1-mile walk will go to the Painted Turtle, a camp for children with disabilities and chronic illnesses.

Redheads Rule Fun Run
When: Oct. 4
Where: Charlie Kellogg and Joe Zaher Sports Complex, 7901 W. Washington Ave.
What: Redheads and wannabes are welcome to this timed 5K and 1.7-mile run or walk. Both start at 8 a.m., and participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite redhead. Prize will be awarded for best costumes.
Registration is $40 until Thursday for the 5K and $30 for the walk.

Vegas Mud Run
When: Oct. 11
Where: Bootleg Canyon Park, 1000 Yucca St., Boulder City
What: This run is for racers of all ages who don’t mind trekking through muddy terrain and a few obstacles. There is a 5K for kids, and a 5K, 10K and 20K for adults.
Registration is $60 for the 5K, $65 for the 10K, $70 for the 20K and $35 for the kids' 5K.

Lifetime Indoor Triathlon
When: Oct. 12
Where: Lifetime Fitness, 10721 W. Charleston Blvd.
What: This event is the perfect time to test your skills in swimming, biking and running.
Participants will have 10 minutes to swim in an indoor pool, 30 minutes to ride a bike and 20 minutes to run on a treadmill. Participants will get their distance measured in each leg and assigned a score based on those measurements. The event is open to anyone 12 and older.
Registration is $30 for members of Lifetime Fitness and $35 for nonmembers.

Be a Superhero for ALS 5K
When: Oct. 25
Where: Police Memorial Park, 3250 Metro Academy Way
What: If you want to do more to contribute to ALS research than the Ice Bucket Challenge, this event is perfect for you.
Come dressed as your favorite superhero and help honor those with ALS while working out.
Funds will go toward providing much-needed services to Nevadans living with ALS.
Registration is $40 for adults, $25 for people younger than 18 and free for children younger than 5.

Goldilocks Vegas Run or Ride
When: Oct. 25
Where: West Career and Technical Academy, 11945 W Charleston Blvd.
What: You can choose to ride your bike in a 50K, 100K or 100-mile race, or run a 5K, 10K, or half marathon.
This girls-only event supports women going through cancer treatments and a portion of registration fees will go to charities that provide real-hair wigs to women with cancer. Hair donations will also be collected at the event.
