Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in 2009 stepped forward and helped CityCenter obtain the bank loans it needed to succeed. The complex now employs 12,000 workers, in its hotels and casinos.
Jim Murren, CEO of MGM Resorts International, said Reid personally called CEOs from many financial institutions to consider loans for City-Center. Reid emphasized that it was important for Nevada.
Now we see today that Reid, who also organizes the National Clean Energy Summit gave his full support to Gov. Brian Sandoval to make a deal to bring Tesla’s battery “gigafactory” into Nevada. The deal is expected to bring 6,500 jobs to the state.
It was good to see a Democrat reach across the aisle to a Republican for the betterment of our state.
We don’t see much of this today with the GOP and the Democrats on a national level.
