WestJet flight returns to McCarran over possible fuel leak

A possible fuel leak caused a WestJet flight to return to McCarran International Airport shortly after its departure this afternoon, an airport spokeswoman said.

WestJet flight 1709 departed for Victoria, British Columbia, at about 3:20 p.m., McCarran spokeswoman Christine Crews said.

The flight crew determined that fuel may have been leaking from the Boeing 737 and took the precaution of returning, Crews said.

The plane landed at 3:31 p.m. without incident, she said.

None of the 126 people on board was injured, Crews said.
