A fire at an apartment building a few blocks east of the Las Vegas Strip displaced 67 people Wednesday and caused about $400,000 damage, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Deputy Fire Chief Jon Klassen said the fire started about 3:45 p.m. in a downstairs unit at Americana Apartments, 335 E. Harmon Ave., and spread to the second level. Fire crews were able to contain the fire.

Klassen said 32 units were damaged.

One resident was transported to the hospital because of respiratory distress, Klassen said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.
