Coroner IDs man killed in car, motorcycle collision

A man killed when a motorcycle and car collided Thursday night in North Las Vegas has been identified as Eric James Howell, 19, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Howell died of multiple blunt force injuries in the crash at West Tropical Parkway and Sea Princess Street, officials said.

Howell died after the motorcycle he was riding with a 19-year-old man collided about 8 p.m, with a four-door sedan, North Las Vegas Police Officer Aaron Patty said. Howell was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

The other man on the motorcycle was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

It is still unclear which of the two men on the motorcycle was driving, because both were thrown from the bike and few witnesses saw the accident, Patty said.

The motorcycle was east on Tropical and hit the car, which was turning west, Patty said. The speed of the motorcycle may have been a factor in the accident, he said.

The driver of the car, a 45-year-old North Las Vegas man, was not injured and stayed at the scene of the crash, Patty said.
