Coroner IDs man shot in parking lot after reportedly pulling gun

A man fatally shot Monday in a strip mall parking lot across from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino has been identified as Michael Johnson, 30, of Las Vegas, the Clark County Coroner’s Office reported.

Metro Police said Johnson was killed about 3 a.m. following an altercation in a parking lot at 4480 South Paradise Road.

Johnson was in a vehicle with his girlfriend when an argument broke out between him and the occupants of another vehicle, police said. Johnson got out and pointed a gun at the people in the other vehicle, police said. One of the passengers then pulled out a gun and shot Johnson once in the chest, police said.

He was found by officers on the ground in the parking lot and pronounced dead on the scene. His death has been ruled a homicide.

The shooter was interviewed by detectives, and the case will be submitted to the Clark County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges, police said
