Metro: Youth fires shotgun into home, then is shot

Metro Police say a male youth has been taken into custody after allegedly firing a shotgun through the front door of a home Tuesday in the northern part of the valley.

Lt. Mark Reddon said police received reports at about 4:30 p.m. that a juvenile had fired into a home in the 7700 block of Maverick Street, near North Jones Boulevard and Grand Teton Drive. According to Reddon, the suspect was known to the homeowner's son, who reportedly returned fire with a handgun from inside the home, hitting the suspect.

The suspect was taken to University Medical Center in stable condition.

It is unclear whether others were inside the home. Reddon said no one else was transported to the hospital.

Police remain on the scene.
