Traffic on Interstate 15 near Moapa is flowing smoothly, despite ongoing work to repair chunks of road washed out last week by heavy flooding, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.

One lane in each direction has been open since Friday afternoon, four days after large chunks of the road were swept away on Monday. There are still restrictions on large commercial trucks, which can only use the northbound lane from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., NDOT spokeswoman Julie Duewel said.

“It was pretty amazing to get that open in four days considering the damage,” Duewel said. “From what we’re hearing, traffic is flowing very nicely.”

Officials expect the interstate to open completely sometime next week.

Repair work on the southbound lanes is ongoing, though crews have already rebuilt the roadbed and cleared debris. Southbound traffic is being diverted onto the northbound lanes, and the speed limit has been reduced to 55 mph.
