Hurricane Odile could bring more storms to Las Vegas area this week

After last week's storms, road closures and flood damage to homes, vehicles and interstates, the Las Vegas Valley could use a break from the rain, but that break may be interrupted by another storm: Hurricane Odile.

There are similarities between the progress of Hurricane Odile and Hurricane Nobert, which hit the valley last week, according to National Weather Service Meteorologist Chris Outler.

There is an increase in moisture currently near Cabo San Lucas, but Hurricane Odile is pushing some of the tropical moisture into the southwest.

It is hard to predict this early the areas of the valley that could be hit by the storm, but "there is definitely potential for a additional rain and flooding", Outler said.

If the storm makes its way to the Las Vegas Valley, showers can be expected Tuesday night, he said.
