A stretch of Interstate 15 north of Las Vegas that was washed out by heavy flooding on Monday has been partially reopened, the Nevada Department of Transportation said.

One northbound lane and one southbound lane were opened at 4 p.m., as work continued to fully repair the highway, NDOT spokeswoman Julie Duewel said.

The southbound lane is open to all traffic. Commercial trucks will only be allowed to use the northbound lane from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and trucks with a gross weight over 26,000 pounds will still be directed to use U.S. 93 or State Route 319.

The speed limit will be 55 mph.

The rest of the damaged lanes are expected to be open by Sept. 22, Duewel said. Cost of the repairs has been estimated at $5 million.
