Fire guts apartment near downtown Las Vegas

At least three people were displaced after a fire gutted a one-bedroom apartment just west of downtown late Thursday night, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue.

Dispatchers received numerous calls about 10:30 p.m. about a fire at the Siegel Suites, 100 South Martin Luther King Blvd., fire department officials said. When firefighters arrived, they found a second-story apartment in flames.

The fire was brought under control in less than 10 minutes and didn’t spread to adjacent units, officials said.

No one was in the apartment at the time of the fire, but a security guard was treated for minor smoke inhalation. Damage was estimated at $35,000.
