letter to the editor:

Costs of minimum wage increase

What if the SEIU got its way and were able to force a $15-an-hour minimum wage on fast-food restaurants?

Even if you do not agree that it would cost hundreds of thousands of jobs and force fast-food restaurants to automate their food production facilities, here is what it would cost consumers compared to current prices:

At McDonald’s, a Big Mac meal would jump in price from $5.69 to $7.85.

At Chipotle Mexican Grill, the steak burrito bowl would go from $6.65 to $9.17.

The Burger King Whopper meal would go from $6.15 to $8.48.

The Subway turkey breast foot-long would cost $8.97 from the current $6.50.

The average increase would be about 38 percent on every menu item.
