Letter to the editor:

Some answer is needed

Regarding the letter about passing more laws (“Passing more laws isn’t the answer,” Sept. 2), my question is: Then what is the answer?

Before there was mandatory insurance coverage for all auto owners, the writer should have seen how many people were driving around without insurance. While nothing is perfect, including any gun background checks or mandatory auto insurance, things have improved on the auto side and would most likely improve even if simple background checks for gun buyers were done.

By the way, if a car is stolen, used in racing or causes injury to a person who is covered under worker’s compensation, for example, there would be no coverage. But letting someone else drive your car and get into an accident isn’t excluded based just on that act.
