Las Vegas 51s:

51s’ season ends with third straight playoff loss to Reno

The Las Vegas 51s were eliminated today in the PCL Conference Championship Series with a 7-3 loss at Reno, dropping three straight games in the best-of-five game series to end the season.

After winning the first game of the series, Las Vegas was limited to eight runs in the next three games, losing for the second straight year in the conference series.

Las Vegas trailed 6-0 entering the seventh inning, but Allan Dykstra cut the deficit in half with a three-run home run to make things interesting. However, Las Vegas didn’t produce a hit the remainder of the game, and Dykstra grounded into a double play in the ninth inning to end the game — and the 51s' season.

Las Vegas had a winning record all season, finishing with the best record in the 16-team Pacific Coast League. It will likely field another successful team in 2015 because the New York Mets, the 51s’ big-league affiliate, is loaded with talented prospects.

The Mets this month signed a two-year player development agreement to remain in Las Vegas for Triple-A.
