Letter to the editor:

Tax dollars and education

Here we go again. Nevada again has the worst schools in the nation.

Overcrowded, understaffed buildings in disrepair, turning out poorly educated graduates (if they finish).

You need a well-educated workforce (ex-students, duh!) to attract companies to locate in this state. This takes tax dollars to bring the education up to par.

You cannot attract more good teachers with poor pay, crowded classrooms and poor treatment of educators.

Casino owners smile when they see all the big bucks they make off all the same people paid minimum wages. Raising taxes will not bring job losses. It will produce a grade-A education system that is badly needed.

This is what the children need for a good future and to get good-paying jobs.
