Letter to the editor:

Obama should act on Ebola crisis

I just reviewed a flier sent out by the principal of an elementary school near where I live. One of the topics was “Health Issues,” specifically the upcoming flu season. The advice if your child appears to be catching the flu or otherwise feels ill? “Keep them home so as not to spread the illness among the other students and faculty.” Normally, I would sigh with a big, “Duh,” since this has been an obvious, sage remedy for decades.

However, apparently the Obama administration seems to feel that political correctness (and dodging another administration scandal until after the midterm elections) trumps common sense in fighting the spread of the Ebola virus to the U.S. population. President Barack Obama has thus far refused to order a halt to people entering America from the three African countries most affected by Ebola, even though common sense would dictate such action.

Perhaps Mr. Obama should act like a president for once and put American lives ahead of his political agenda. He might start by visiting an elementary school and talking to the school nurse or principal.
